CYANOGENMOD things for sony phones

Published on 15 Nov 2012 This video shows how to unlock the bootloader of your generic/unbranded Xperia (S, Ion, T, V, TX, TL, J, Miro, Tipo, arc, Mini, Mini Pro, Ray, Play, etc.), start in fastboot mode, install recovery, and finally install CyanogenMod 10 (CM10). This is VERY ADVANCED and could lead to your device being BRICKED. Do NOT attempt this if you are unfamiliar with modifying your Android phone. You have been WARNED! DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS UNLESS YOU HAVE THE .FTF (FlashTool File) to restore your phone back to working condition. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. 2013-01-14 UPDATE: There is now a 4.2.1 CM10 build for the Xperia S: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showt... The process is similar. If you have a carrier-branded 2012 phone and/or are missing the bootloader status line in your SERVICE menu, you CANNOT unlock your bootloader and CANNOT proceed with this video. If you have a 2011 device, you can PAY to have your bootloader unlocked. Details here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sn-Vu... Make sure you READ the original FreeXperia thread, the bootloader unlocking tutorial, this description ENTIRELY, and follow the instructions precisely! The CyanogenMod project for Xperia devices is called FreeXperia and details are available: - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showt... - https://sites.google.com/site/project... - http://www.cyanogenmod.org/blog/cyano... Google Apps for CyanogenMod are available here: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/wiki/Late... / http://goo.im/gapps You MUST download the appropriate CM version for your phone or else it will NOT work. Examples: - Nozumi = Xperia S - Hyabusa = Xperia TX - Mesona = Xperia Miro - etc. Supported 2012 devices: https://sites.google.com/site/project... [make note of your device's name!] Supported 2011 devices: https://sites.google.com/site/project... [make note of your device's name!] What's working (hardware)/not working for 2012 devices: https://sites.google.com/site/project... Everything works EXCEPT for the FM radio as of CM10 build 146. What's working/not working for 2011 devices: https://sites.google.com/site/project... Everything works EXCEPT HDMI out and the front camera (if equipped). You may need to wipe the partitions and install in a different order and/or wipe the system as well. It may take a few tries and lots of experimenting until it boots. It took me over 10 tries before I could get it booting. BE PATIENT! Example: - wipe system, wipe cache, install CM10, wipe cache - wipe cache, install CM10 - wipe system, install CM10, wipe cache - etc. To update to newer versions of CM10/FreeXperia, copy the ZIP to your phone and flash in recovery. All data and apps should NOT be affected. However, all the usual warnings apply: backup before modifying your phone.
